| When I first picked up an original Conn Vocabell I was standing with the great Snooky Young in a music store. Before I played a note on it Snooky said, "that Mutha will hit the back wall". He should know as he played one on Jimmy Lunceford's band in 1939. My new version has a VERY thin bell without the bead and is similar to a Bach 72 size. The enclosed leadpipe has the outer tube the entire length becoming the tuning slide receiver. The T/S crook is rounded as on the original and as on all the Scodwell horns, bracing is placed with extensive play testing. The result here is a horn that jumps out with a solid core and much vibrance. Slides and valves are silky smooth with tight tolerances. In raw brass it can be finished to your specifications at additional cost.
