on offer: an early (SK50XX) Getzen Severinsen Bb trumpet in lacquer with original case and additional .460 tuning slide, with the bell replaced with a raw brass Bach Stradivarius Anniversary edition 37 bell with engraving. Plays wonderfully, and if the rumors are true that Doc himself replaced the bell on his Getzen with a Bach bell I can certainly see why.
Pros: Plays great - a wonderful core to the sound that the original bell did not bring out. Mechanics perfect. Good compression, smooth valves, all slides work appropriately. Has adjustable third valve slide ring, a first valve slide trigger, and traditional water keys. Recent cleaning and valve alignment by master repair tech Jon Ashcraft, who also replaced the bell for me.
Cons: Lacquer on the body is in poor condition. Leadpipe is not perfect but this red rot would take many, many years of use & abuse to cause a problem. This horn is perfectly playable as is but could always be relacquered or silver plated, and since Getzen is still making the Eterna 900 you can also source a new leadpipe if you feel it is necessary.
I'm selling this instrument only because I have a Getzen 3001 I like a bit better, and so this great horn is just sitting here unplayed. Asking price reflects only the money I put into it purchasing it and the bell. Contact me if you have questions or need close up photos of anything in particular.
