Being a Music Ed major, I am taking The requisite methods classes. The Low brass teacher studies with Sam Pilafian, and as such is a Jacobs breathing advocate. I thought that I had good breath tech. until I met these exercises! By the time he had taken the class through the set of exercises, I thought I was going to pass out, blurry vision and my nose was tingling, and I wasn't even at a bar! These exercises made an immediate impact on my playing, fuller sound and better intonation. I am amazed that something as simple as those breathing exercises could have such an immediate impact on my playing. I am beginning to think that many blame their playing and endurance problems on bad "chops", rather than breathing properly, myself included. Check this stuff out, there is a reason so many great players went to Jacobs for advice!
