Hello trumpet hive-mind:
I have an opportunity to perform on a chamber concert this winter which I'd like to take advantage of, but there will be no piano. I'm considering a trumpet solo piece ...
But I'll bet some of you know of some excellent recent-ish pieces for trumpet and tape. Any ideas? I feel like there has been a fair amount of this music written in the last 20 years. I think I'd rather do something like that.

To the OP: SheetMusicPlus, JW Pepper, Presto, and Hickeys are your friends. The search engines for the first two are a bit clumsy, and for Hickeys I would suggest you see if they have a category for "trumpet & tape", or to follow the point Kehaulani made, "trumpet & electronics".

Good point about tape. I think you have some composers still experimenting with tape recording, because there remains some unique things one can do with tape that is much harder to do with a purely electronic setup that can mimic tape. JMO.
As far as genre is concerned, I get the impression that the OP means classical in genre, and is less interested in covering a Timmy Trumpet tune.

Yeah, tape, prepared media, electro-acoustic, all the above apply and others.
I know Meg Bowles' stuff and have played some of them in the past. Could do one of those again.
And yes I'm talking music in the 'classical' tradition. |
