Hello trumpet hive-mind:

I have an opportunity to perform on a chamber concert this winter which I'd like to take advantage of, but there will be no piano. I'm considering a trumpet solo piece ...

But I'll bet some of you know of some excellent recent-ish pieces for trumpet and tape. Any ideas? I feel like there has been a fair amount of this music written in the last 20 years. I think I'd rather do something like that.

Thanks in advance for any ideas you might have!

To the OP: SheetMusicPlus, JW Pepper, Presto, and Hickeys are your friends. The search engines for the first two are a bit clumsy, and for Hickeys I would suggest you see if they have a category for "trumpet & tape", or to follow the point Kehaulani made, "trumpet & electronics".

Aren't "Tape" and (recent) 20 years self-cancelling?
What genre? "Electronic Music" ("Tape"?) has several very different meanings.

Good point about tape. I think you have some composers still experimenting with tape recording, because there remains some unique things one can do with tape that is much harder to do with a purely electronic setup that can mimic tape. JMO.

As far as genre is concerned, I get the impression that the OP means classical in genre, and is less interested in covering a Timmy Trumpet tune.

Yeah, tape, prepared media, electro-acoustic, all the above apply and others.
I know Meg Bowles' stuff and have played some of them in the past. Could do one of those again.
And yes I'm talking music in the 'classical' tradition.

I forgot to respond to this last month but just remembered!

I see you're in Bloomington, IN so you probably remember Sam Wells that came through there and know of his stuff. But check out his page and I'm sure you can reach out to him: https://sllewm.as/

Sarah Belle Reid is also big into that stuff: https://www.sarahbellereid.com/
