I’m not clear what the difference is between the new Bachs and the 50th Anniversary Strad that was released in 2015. That horn also has 2 piece valve casings, side seam bell, brass valve locks.
Are the new 19037 Bachs thought to be generally ‘brighter’ than the old 180 series? |

There are two changes visible to me: The addition of a brace on the first valve slide and smaller bracing (less material) connecting the leadpipe and bell. There may be many other changes, but those are the ones obvious to me.
Edit: In terms of how they play, I don't find a lot of difference between the first and second generation 19037s. Both are truly fantastic horns and they sound and play a LOT alike (to me).

I think it depends on what period of 18037 you are talking about, but I'd say "yes," at least for the period 1980s-2020s. |
