I bought Roger's new book and have found there to be a lot of very useful information, particularly concerning developing the upper register.

The book is all text apart from Roger's glissando exercise and does not claim to unlock any hidden secrets, but simply explains about certain aspects of high note playing have worked for him and can work for others (good basic technique, using the right equipment, the wedge breath, open aperture etc.) Roger credits a lot of his theories to Bobby Shew.

Of course there are many other interesting topics in the book but I can't imagine many people wanting to read the book if they just weren't a little curious about range!

You're welcome bpilk. Hope it's helpful. There is a foreward by Harry Connick Jr in the newer editions.

All the best

Hey guys,

Just finished Roger's book today, I felt like it was a great read. It was like reading a conversation you once had with him. I thought lots of the info was very relevant and some things not so obvious, like diet concerns and the like. His explanation of the Yoga "Wedge" breath was great as well.

I'd been a fan of Roger's playing for some time, so it was great to hear more from him. I definetly suggest this book, check it out.

I highly suggest checking out Roger's calendar on his website, and seeing if any of the acts are coming near you. If so, drop the change* for a private lesson with him. I did this a year ago, and I'm still reaping the benefits.

*you won't have any money left the way the market is dropping, so spend spend spend!
