This has certainly changed over the past 20 years as I went on a significant trumpet safari and have owned many amazing (vintage and modern) horns, but I think I can answer this now and think things will not change in my mind any longer:

1. Adams A4 LT-S = bespoke trumpet ordered in 2015 with the A4's 5.5" bell in red brass with a shepherd's crook. ML bore. It is such a winner to me. Plays and speaks clearer and easier than any trumpet I've ever experienced.

2. Schagerl LU5A = Gileno Santana model - L bore. An amazing, flexible trumpet. Thicker rotary trumpet bell produces a rich tone that is great in small combo or solo work.

3. Bonus selection: Getzen Genesis 3003 - L bore. A great all-around horn. Don't let the thick bracing fool you. Not much heavier than a standard trumpet and can do anything and play in any setting.

Thanks, Bill. Played first gig with the Genesis tonight ... it was fabulous. Band mates loved it too. I will be enjoying it, thanks to you!

Wow! This has certainly changed over the years as I have owned different trumpets. But my favorite horns is my Prewar Besson Brevete. Mainly because of the sound. It has such a warm, beautiful classic trumpet sound. Next would be my LA Benge 3X+, my Olds Recording in immaculate shape with amazing valves. I also love my Leblanc .468 bore Symphonic and my LA Benge 5X. It is hard though to beat the Besson.
