Severinsen “Destino” 24k Gold Plated Bb trumpet
played and tested by Doc Severinsen !
The Destino was designed by Doc Severinsen and built in Germany by master craftsman Franz Straub. Each instrument is individually tested by Doc himself. This is one of those very few horns, serial number #06. (Doc plays on serial #01).
"For many years, I wished that I could build the horn of my dreams.
('If you want something done properly, do it yourself!') Accordingly, I
have recently created by own company that produces a once-in-a-lifetime
horn-the Destino trumpet by Severinsen Custom Trumpets. The Destino is
a dream trumpet, handcrafted one-at-the-time, using old-fashioned,
craftsman techniques. It is made for trumpet players by trumpet
players. The Destino is created in very limited quantities in Germany
then sent to me to be road tested on my live concerts until I feel each
instrument is something I am proud of and would gladly play for the
rest of my life. By the way, I personally go down to the UPS Store and
send the Destino off to its new home and personally guarantee its
satisfaction!" - Doc Severinsen.
The bore of the Destino is medium large .460” and the bell is 4 7/8" one piece. The Destino has a slow bell taper that gives the player a more open focused feeling, a special designed bell and mouthpipe developed for peak performance, Bauerfeind valve section (the best), 1st and 3rd slide throw with a stop screw, 1st slide weight harmonic stabilizers, two water keys, 24k gold plated finish (standard).
The trumpet is wonderfully free blowing with the perfect amount of resistance to achieve an easy and full upper register, and a big fat sound all over the entire range of the instrument.
“The Destino is very unique in the way it blows. If you push on it for upper register work, the resistance seems to move further down the horn, but if you back off for pretty lower register or soft playing, the resistance will feel like it is closer to you. This insures a very big and fat upper register, yet still allows you to articulate cleanly on soft passages, or in the lower register of the horn” - Doc Severinsen
Trumpet has been very well looked after and is in superb condition with no dents, dings or repairs and just a very small amount of light wear, hardly noticeable. This is an wonderful playing trumpet in awesome condition.
Please note this is an original Franz Straub built Destino and not one of the more recent readily available Destino trumpets built by Kanstul.
