I must admit I have never tried to play my horn with the mouthpiece in backward. |

I have serious trouble understanding most of Dave Bacon's posts. Some totally defy my abilities to comprehend. Im still in wonderment from his Vacuum thread. Wheww another cosmic post bites the dust.

I didn't get an immediate lock-up so maybe I'm ok.
Schilke 14.
I've had alot of resistance problems in the past.
Especially in the high register. |

"Jamming as much air as possible, you feel an immediate back pressure and coresponding throat closure"
Dave
Maybe I'm dense, and I'm sorry, I'm just trying to get this immediate back pressure that you're speaking about. I've tried this 3 different ways, and cant get the feeling of a throat closure. When you say "jamming as much air as possible, do you mean 1- Blow the air faster? 2- Move as much air in one instant as you can? 3- push the air in one instant as if you're coughing?
I would like to use this demonstration with my students, but I'm still not sure how it's done.
Sincerely,
Wayne
