I am just musing with the idea of taking an old trumpet or 2 and trying to make a sax shaped effort. Desoldering and rebending the tubes into the desired shape. Might be fun ar a jam session.
I reckon I could manage some soldering and pipe bending.
How hard could it be (that'll be a can of worms)..

Is there areason, I'm sure there is, why the lead pioe goes into the 3rd valve first?
Would swapping witht the bell so lead pioe into 1st valve, ans bell out of 3rd be problematic in a manner thats not immediatly obvious? I realise therw may be differences in diameter but that doesn't seem to be insurmountable.

It doesn't matter, all flugelhorns are built that way, leadpipe into 1st valve.
