Looking for a travel/portable music stand, that is sturdy and stable -- one that will work for the occasional outside concert. My music usually resides on an iPad so it won't need to hold a lot of weight. Most of the threads I've found on this topic date from mid last decade (2013 - 2015) at that time these brands seemed to be most frequently recommended:
Manhasset Voyager
Peak
Hercules
Hamilton KB90
Portastand
Are these still the leaders in the clubhouse, are there other brands to consider? At this point, the Peak SMS-20 seems the best fit. I do not want a wireframe style, e.g., K & M. _________________ Bach Stradivarius 180S37

I've use the Peak (I think it's the SMS-20) for the past 5-6 years and when I need a regular stand it's been fantastic. I'm sure there are other good ones out there, I just haven't needed to explore past the Peak.
As you mentioned, I also play almost everything from my iPad so I more frequently use an Airturn Manos stand. The downside is that you don't have a normal music stand lip to set things on but I usually have my mute stand and for theater shows I usually take a small shelf that attaches to the stand. Between those I have a place to set my wallet, phone, valve oil, etc.
The Airturn stand (or any tablet holder stand) has the advantage of being a lot less wide so it's easier to get the bell out of the stand for projection or have the mic right next to the music. I also like how small the Airturn collapses down, I can slide it into the water bottle holder on the side of my backpack or slip it into most of my cases. The Peak stand collapses a lot but it's still too large to fit in a backpack or case, I use the bag it came with so it's an extra thing to carry. _________________ Jonathan Karnes

I have the Hamilton KB90. I bought it about 10 years ago. It's study enough to play outside. And everything fits into the stand's bag.
But like you, all of my music nowadays in on an Android tablet. So instead of a music stand, I use a tablet holder attached to a microphone stand.

While I'm not a huge fan I too use the Peak stand.
If you truly only expect to use the iPad you might consider a dedicated iPad holder. There are lots of options available. _________________ "I'm an engineer, which means I think I know a whole bunch of stuff I really don't."

Rat Jazz Stands are the absolute best out there, but pretty expensive. _________________ “Nothing happens without any air. I mean, have a listen to it; it’s silent! It’s the air that creates and carries the sound through the trumpet.” - James Morrison |
