Sounds like it may be the old style mellophone mouthpiece. The modern mellophones almost always use a trumpet shank, and can be played with trumpet mouthpieces but I prefer the tone of the tenor horn mouthpiece. The old style mellophones had a shank somewhere between a modern cornet and trumpet, and had a cup larger than any trumpet or cornet, but smaller than a tenor trombone cup. I have gotten several of these in odd lots of music equipment, the 5 cup is the most common I have seen, and the proportions look like a cornet piece, but are larger. _________________ huntman10
