Any Blue juice fans here?

I've never used it personally, but, I have loaned some UltraPure to more than a few section mates over the last decade or so, having valve problems on a gig and at least three or four of them switched to UP as a result. I should probably get some sort of commision...

FWIW, outdoor summer gigs in Texas, temperatures of 95+ F even for 7 or 8pm start times, can be a real test of valve oils, and blue isn't the only brand that can have trouble in that sort of heat. but, it's definitely one of them.

The repair techs at my former shop could instantly tell if a player was using Blue Juice when they saw the yellow-ish film on their valves. I have used Yamaha synthetic since it first came out and along with Blow Dry Brass it has kept my valves problem free and looking like new.

Where does that blue color come from anyway?

I don't like it, and have been told by some techs to avoid it. It stinks way worse than regular oil too, so that's enough for me! The coloured oils are a bit of a sales gimmick - imo.

Bought a bottle once. Couldn't get past the smell. Gave it away. Continue to use Al Cass..no odor, works great.

I won't repeat my dislike of Blue Juice (feel free to find it a few pages pack).

I note that some remark on it being long lasting.

The newer synthetics - Yamaha Synthetic and Hetman are unbeatable for longevity compared to Blue Juice (which I did use for 6-9 months). Seriously.

I had a horn that I oiled with Yamaha synthetic. I played it a bunch, it sat for 9 months (was playing other things) and picked it up for a specific gig 9 months later. It worked great. I hadn't oiled it for a year.

Not recommending that actually doing that, it just happened due to circumstance. I generally oil relatively frequently, but it's not necessary with the new great synthetics. There might be other good ones than Yamaha and Ultra Pure and Hetman. I've got a bottle of new Monster Oil that I might try sometime. But, the old standard petroleum oils of Holton, Al Cass, and Blue Juice that are simply not at that level, in my opinion and experience.

I am a comeback player and chose Blue Juice for my 1958 .472 Paris Selmer. It worked so well I now use it on each of my horns. It has been two months and no need to reapply. Very happy customer.

For what it's worth, Charlie Melk uses Blue Juice, or at least that what he says he applies to horns he's repaired and returned to me.

I swore by Al Cass for decades. Once I moved to Las Vegas, though, I found that it evaporated half way through a gig and my valves felt dry.
The long-time heavyweight I was sitting next to recommended Blue Juice for the dry climate. Now I buy it six bottles at a time. (I have like, 18 trumpets)
I didn't like the blue it left on the valves, but it doesn't seem to be there anymore. The durability and smoothness in the desert are what keep me coming back.

It's my go-to these days. I used to use a heavier synthetic but eventually felt limited by the slowness. Blue Juice works even for my horns with tight valves. It doesn't last quite as long as some others but decided that my need for speed was more important.
