My tuning crook does NOT have round tubing. It is more oval-shaped. It has also been flattened somehow, which is why I was wondering if the tubing is supposed to be round, or oval shaped? The tubing that fits into the leadpipe is round of course. I am referring to the actual tuning crook tubing.

What year model is your 80-A? On mine (1 1967 model and 2 1965 models) they are all round, not oval.

My cornet was made in 1938.

Tom, where ya at? His is a late '30's model, and he may be able to answer this for you. I got to play his a few weeks ago, but didn't notice if the tubing was oval.

Hi,

Sorry for the delay. I've been swamped lately!

Tubing is round, and so it is on my '39 Victor too. I suspect the '38 became oval in some sort of accident.

Sincerely,

Tom Turner
