Hi everyone,
Miles Davis' tune, 'Flamenco SKetches' is one of my favourite pieces of all time. But does anyone know what Bill Evans means when he says:
"It is a series of five scales, each to be played as long as the soloist wishes until he has completed the series."
How does this work? I cant seem to figure it out.
Thanks, RooTheHorn _________________ He raised his horn and blew into it quietly and thoughtfully and elicited birdlike phrases and architectural Miles Davis logics - These were the children of the great bop innovators. |

On the record, those amazing masters follow the 4-4-4-8 format. In fact, Martin Williams told me once that Bill Evans actually wrote the tune. basically, the soloist cues the next mode to be played thru a connected scale to the next mode. As you know, Blue in Green was recorded with the lights off in the studio. So, with this in mind, have fun!
