Looks very fishy to me.... the trumpet looks the exact same in both ads....one seller has 0 feedback and that is kinda fishy.... the other seller has 100% positive feedback....I think he is legit.... I would contact the "legit" seller to see what was going on and make sure he/she knows that someone is trying to sell what looks like the exact same trumpet he/she has..... hmmmmm... interesting....

We don't eat koala bears. We just use them for depraved sexual acts and they seem to like it.

Both auctions mention an Australian dollar amount, so the "legit" seller with the feedback is in on the Aussie connection. Perhaps they are related and his Aussie cousin is acting as his agent if it gets sold in Australia, or vice versa. I wonder how eBay would feel knowing that the same item up for bid is being listed as existing in two locations.

Just a gentle reminder that Singapore is where the first ad has originated from ,not Australia. Singapore is not in Australia!!!!!!!

I almost got stung by a similar deal. The "seller" had downloaded and stolen the photos and description of a previously sold Bach Strad and then created his own phony add. I bid and then the seller emailed and said that due to a death in the family he had to end the auction early and would sell to me at my bid price. I agreed and sent the money order...he shipped me an empty box and claimed that the horn had been stolen in transit. But the box weighed the same on shipment as on receipt. I got the local PO postmaster involved and filled out mail fraud papers, contacted the sellers local police department and then the seller...very offended that I thought he had ripped me off...sent me back my money via overnight fedex. I was very lucky. The steal a photo and create a phony add deal is becoming quite common and usually originates overseas. I have seen at least two from Canad/Great Britain. BEWARE. kpb

I posted on the safety harbor discussion forum. If your curious as to what the responses might be here is the url.

Actually the original ad is from Florida - you only see the Australian dollar amount because the person who placed the links did them from the Ebay Australia site.

The suspect ad looks like the person comes from Singapore (Ebay won't let you register outside the country where your email account originates) and they've listed it through the Ebay Australia site.

I have seen this stunt before and almost got caught out myself. Once it is brought to their attention Ebay usually sorts it out pretty quickly.

I suspect the Aussie posting more than the one out of Fl. Checking the feedback base for kbksr, I've successfully dealt with a couple of the same folks who've posted positives for him/her. They've been in the ebay business for a while. I doubt anyone would try to "set up" 49 positive responses from 49 unique users with a 100% rating and then try to pull a fast one with a single deal like this.

Ebayers like beemernut bid on any good looking horn that comes along and must be pretty good judges of what's a scam and what's not.

Mariaulur, on the other hand, has zero listings, used one of the same photos, and listed AFTER the Florida posting went up.

Hi,

Another clue as to the original add is the PVA at Brass Bow. The true owner is unlikely to be outside of the USA..unless he sends his horn half way across the world for servicing!! The scam is Singapore based I suspect. Just my .02 worth.

Regards

Trevor

I recieved a nice email from eBay that I had violated their rules by posting about the above auctions in the safety harbor forum. . The thread was removed. I think the one in Florida is legit.

So bidding ended with nobody taking the bait. Good. Too bad Ebay didn't shut the vendor down first just as a matter of principle.

It appears to me it was shut down - the item was ended early, and the seller is no longer registered.
