Has anyone ever heard this guy play?
If you haven't, go download or buy one of his recordings! I heard my first recording of him today (the Arutunian) and all I can say is "wow". This guy is outstanding.
Does anyone else feel the same way I do about Timofei?

Yeah, I would basically say his recording of the Arutunian is THE recording of that piece. |

The Arutunian was actually written for Timofie and no one plays it better. He has many excellent recordings. I love to hear him play the Tartini and Ave Maria. _________________ Best Regards, Play Well!! |

His "retirement" recording, called _Trumpeter on the Roof_, consists entirely of Jewish music. The pieces by Bloch have some of the most beautiful trumpet playing I've heard. The recording was produced in a small quantity, and when I bought mine from tapmusic.com a few months ago, apparently fewer than 10 copies were still available. |

Timofei is a phenomenal trumpeter, known to many, but not as famous as he deserves to be.

His was the first trumpet LP (that would be a vinyl record album for the young guys) I ever owned back in the early 70's when I was a lad. I think it was of the Hummel (or was it the Haydn?) back when I was learning it/them for HS solo and ensemble. Not a bad role model, eh. |
