Okay diehard Wynton fans. Name an album that Wynton performs on (jazz only) that most Wynton fans would not know about. He makes guest appearances on numerous albums, and it's near impossible to find them all on your own. Let's see 'em!

This is a great live album with Wynton as a side man playing a bunch of standards (including Giant Steps) for less than $6.

Several of my favorites lesser known include:

A Love Supreme with Elvin Jones in Tokyo, with Joe Henderson the music of Billy Strayhorn, and one track ( Avalon) on Once more, with feeling Doc and the tonight show band.

He also has a few tracks under other artist, like Marcus Roberets, under his alias Dankworth.

Ah, "E. Dankworth" on Roberts' "Deep In The Shed." Ha ha.

That one (Herbie Hancock Quartet) he did with Herbie, Ron, and Tony was pretty good.

There was one spoof at YouTube, quite well made, but I am not sure whether it would qualify.

+1 to Fathers and sons. I haven't heard it in years, but when I first heard it, I thought it was some of Wynton's best playing I'd ever heard. And, I may be incorrect, but isn't Dewy and Joshua Redman on that too?

I have one that is an old tribute to Dizzy. He plays on that one. I can't remember the name or label. I'll have to dig it up.

Charles FAMBROUGH "the proper angle" features a 1991 session with the two Marsalis brothers + Hargrove, K Kirkland and so on...some tunes are tremendous, some are not. Check it at

- Dizzy Gillespie: To Diz with Love (1992, Telarc ed.)
- Frank Morgan: Mood Indigo (1989, Island Records)
- Herbie Hancock Quartet (1982, CBS/Sony)
- Mark OīConnorīs Hot Swing Trio - In full Swing (2003, Sony Music. Personal opinion: the track nr.3, Tiger Rag, is SPECTACULAR)
- Willie Nelson & Wynton Marsalis - Two Men with the Blues
- Conrad Silvert Presents Jazz at the Opera House (1983, CBS)
- Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers - Keystone 3 (1982, Concord Records)
- Art Blakey with Wynton Marsalis (there are several version of this disc, with partially different tracks: Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers with Wynton Marsalis; Arturo Sandoval & Wynton Marsalis - Los Elefantes; Wynton Marsalis - Best of the Early Years; ... The version in my possession is: Wynton Marsalis & Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers - Blakey's Theme, 1980. 80:01 min of music, probably the longest cd I have)

Maybe others now I don't remember.
