Hello all,

I have heard of this term but am unsure exactly as to what all it means. Is it a Vacchiano driven type of pedagogy the way that Jacobs and Herseth drove the "Chicago school"? What are the differences if any?

Thanks

This may be one of the elements that you're looking for, although it's probably less tied to a particular "school". The ability to center the sound is very important, but there are different ways to come at it (from an orchestral perspective). Some may consider these approaches at arriving at a singing, resonant sound to be "school" based (i.e Cichowicz in Chicago and Pandolfi in New York). It will be interesting to see how this topic develops:

Awesome! Thanks Derek! Do you know if that Pandolfi book came out yet?

Based on this post from Peter Bond earlier this year, unfortunately, it appears that there isn't a book in the works.

On Mr. Vacchiano's recordings...the videos of the Young Peoples Concerts/New York Phil/Bernstein have some wonderful moments with Mr. Vacchiano.
