Does anyone know when Schilke started stamping trumpet model numbers onto the lead pipe? Just looking at a trumpet (around 1980s) with no marking on the leadpipe.
Thank you |

I am no authority, but I have had and\or seen the model number stamped on the mpc receiver on very early low SN Schilke trumpets. My guess is that if you are looking at one that is not stamped, more than likely the mpc receiver has been replaced at some point in the horn's history. _________________ Larry Woods

circa 1961 is when Schilke began stamping model numbers on the receivers. Prior to around that time, the horns were stamped on the 2nd valve outside casings with the date of manufacture. The Schilke logo in the "square" box began around 1963 and went through 1988 when the stamp dye broke, and they never fixed it. |
