Claude talks about that several times in the audio lectures on my site. He tried it for a period of time but it wasn’t something he played that long. He had a couple students that used bent mouthpieces that helped their extreme overbite.
Go to https://www.purtle.com
Click the “Claude Gordon Archives” tab to see a list of all the audio files
Or, in the lower-right you can see topical tags to click
Or, you can use the search feature
There are up to four audio files featured on the “Editor’s Picks” on the home page that will play without being logged in. To listen to everything else you need a free account that’s as simple as creating your own account and clicking the link in your email to verify yourself and login. Click the user icon with the head and shoulders in the upper-right to see the login area and a tab to create the free account or recover a forgotten password.
I hope you enjoy all that’s there.
The Dick Clark video you saw was likely posted by Cecil Hill, who was Claude’s good friend and manager and sax player in the band. He’s the one on the video making hollering and making noise. He was a fun guy and came to a couple of the pedagogy classes to hangout at the dinners we had after the classes.
