Ok I have made two sound clips of me playing a pedal F. Could you guys tell me which way is the right way of playing the pedal notes? I ask because I think I'm playing one too low. Thanks.

here is what I do....

kick out the 3rd slide and finger it 123. and lip it down. I worked at it and it sounds good. Good idea to record it. in fact, i think I will start doing that. In fact, i might start a web page. I probably should practice.

trjeam,

there's also a discussion of this under trumpetchick's post, "pedaltone F...any ideas?" in the Orchestral/Chamber Music/Solo forum. Good luck!

Sorry I should rephrase my question. I don't want to know how to play a pedal F. Because I already do. I just want to know if one of the pedal F that I played is too low. Which one is the first pedal F?

I ask this because I think I have been playing all my pedals a 8va too low.

I agree #2 is pedal F
but #1 sounds like he is playing a F with what I call Tuba lips.

If that is really a double pedal F, can I play everything below pedal C that way?

Right now I'm ok to pedal D
