Does anyone have any info on Ollie Mitchell, especially his association with Herb Alpert in the 60s?

Ollie was very busy in the L.A. studios from late 50's to 70's. I heard it was he that played the double A in Herb Alpert's Casino Royale. Mannie Klien told me that the double tongue section in Zorba The Greek was played by Mannie, Ollie and another player I don't remeber. He currently lives in Hawaii.

Do you have an approximate age on Ollie. The comment on Zorba interests me. Were there 3 players involved in the double tongue section? It's a 2 trumpet part is why I ask.

Also do you know how much else Ollie was involved in regarding the TJB recordings?

I would guess Ollie is around 65. I was surprised when Mannie told me it was 3 players on Zorba also. I can't remember who he said the 3rd guy was. And no, I'm not familiar with other recordings Ollie may have done with Alpert. Most of the recordings I have with Ollie are big band dates from the 50's & 60's. He was always a very friendly guy. You might go to his site and email him.

Is it true that Ollie is Harold "Pappy" Mitchell's son?
