I compared the Bach 3C to the 5C on the Kanstul mouthpiece comparator.
Can it really be true that the 5C has a cup that is that much wider? It dosn't feel that way when I played them both.

The Comparator confirms what several people have told me...the Bach 3C is the shallowest of the Bach 'C' mpcs (1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 5, 7, 10.5, etc) That's probably why the 3C is such a good all-around mpc to play for jazz or legit. I've played the 5C and the 3C, and the 5C is smaller in diameter and has a softer bite.

I dont think so. Ive played both and the 5C just has a little smaller rim diameter.
The 3C is just too big for me. Cant imagine having to play screaming high notes on that sized piece.
But so many pros use it so....hay! It woiks!
I cant figure out how to use that mpc comparator site anyway |
