id love to get my hands on this thing and in this condition. ive never seen one of these on ebay or in the flesh. i almost had a heart attack when i saw it (shows how sad i am!). this is the design used for the k-mod that chet played in the 60's.
have a look at the valves. the ports are on the same plane, exactly like the old berlin valves back in the days of people like stozel.

if only i wernt saving for an Eb/D that would be mine! oh well you cant win em all, but perhaps one of you will!
have fun, sam

plp -
Is that bell really 9 inches? That's HUGE!! And that mouthpiece looks like a cereal bowl! _________________ I find your lack of faith disturbing. |

i saw that too plp but what i dont get is the way that the valves are arranged! it looks like two thirds and a first, but if it is bigger than Bb they may be different, looks like a hefty reserve, i think that bloke knows what hes got (that or he's from yorkshire!)

Hi sam
Can you tell me why you are interested in the Selmer.Have you played one or are you interested in to play.I'm in the market for a flugel to play and also in the area of this one.Would it be a good player do you think? What do you think it's worth in this condition.Doesn't look too good to me.
I had an old Couesnon which I foolishly sold a little while ago.I assume it would play like the small bore flugels in this ilk?
Look forward to your comments
Cheers

i have never played one of these flugels, i learnt to play on a flugel so i always feel at home when ive got one in my hands. i also like quirky things which is why i started looking out for this or a similar model.
the older selmers are great instruments, big solid, heavy things, im not too sure about that vintage though. they are quite similar to the callet jazz flugel. it has the slides entering in the opposite sides of the valves, not like the berlin type on this vintage flugel.
the condition isnt too good by the look of the pictures, but im sure a talented repairman could do wonders.
has anyone had a butchers on one of these things?
have fun, sam
