I'd like to add a 1st Valve trigger or saddle to my King Super 20. If I could find the parts, I've got a repair guy who could install them for me. Anybody know where you can buy this kinda stuff? |

Any music store that has a repair tech should already have the saddle. Replacing saddles and rings is a common enough job for the piece to already be in stock. _________________ 2003 All-State Musician |

oldKid,
I don't know the year of your King but I had a trigger installed on my 1938 King SilverTone cornet and it works great.
Let me know if I can help.

The trigger is cool but are they durable, I won't get one because I think it would break and I would be in trouble |

A trigger is perfectly durable, I used one on my King Silver Flair (the UMI one unfortunately) for over 2 years with no problems, and quite a bit of playing. Not so much as a broken spring! |

Mine has been on for over 16 years with no problem.
Even if it broke MF, how would you be in trouble? The worse that can happen is you can't trigger the first valve.

Broken trigger? Not a problem. How did Harry James and all those other great trumpeters play when there were no triggers or saddles? Pure talent!!
The modern King trigger assembly should fit on your older King. Repairman man will have to "reverse" the top tubing of the first valve slide to attach the small connecting post. The King trigger is truly ingenious because you can remove the slide without undoing screws, etc.
I have a King 2055T Silver Flair which I use as a backup. _________________ C. G. Conn 60B Super Connstellation

I prefer a saddle or ring to a trigger, but that's a personal choice.

Not in WV they don't. If I could just get the address of a supplier of these repair parts ( saddles or triggers ) I'd be a happy trumpeter. I'll shut up now. |

I would be somewhat hesitant to trust somebody to repair or modify my horn if he or she didn't know where to acquire the parts. |

United musics web site at:
http://www.unitedmusical.com/
has a dealer locator for King, looks like they are a subset of Conn these days. I would guess you ought to be able to find a parts supplier from there (and possably someone to do the work). I'd guess a "?"who's a good repair shop question to this board would also point you as some good repair shops, sorry can't help with that as I'm in the UK.
Hope that helps

What??? Your repair person should have an account (or many) with the various suppliers in the industry. He doesn't even have a saddle? If all you need is a simple Bach-style saddle, give me your address and I'll send you one.
