Have you tried it?
Here is the description

Model No: JPT-516
Main Export Market(s): ASIA, MID-EAST, EUROPE, AFRICA, N-AMERICA, C-AMERICA, S-AMERICA, AUSTRAL, OTHER
Key Features: JUPITER Reinvents The Pocket Trumpet As Much More Than A Novelty

March 24th, 2010 – Every trumpet players deserves a practice instrument which is easy to carry and retains the sound and playability of a standard trumpet. However, the pocket trumpet is often criticized for its small bell and the 3rd valve slide loop design which can’t deliver satisfying powerful sound and playability. Being aware of players’ concern, JUPITER developed the JPT-516 which offers players the same enjoyment as playing a standard trumpet.

The JPT-516 pocket trumpet features a 11.70mm (.461”) bore, a 123mm (4.8”) standard bell and a new 3rd loop design that allow players to produce powerful sound and to touch the valve casing, as when playing a standard trumpet. The classic wooden case has protective metal corner bumpers, providing solid and durable protection.

It's probably pretty good as pockets go. Apparently, it sells for about the same price as Jupiter's 416 pocket. Other pockets to look at in the same price range include the Carol and Pocket Max.

I think the Carol Pocket trumpet might be the best deal out there. I love mine and use it often when I perform solo recitals (especially when I use my effects... I can hear myself quicker with the pocket tpt).

You could also search for a decent cornet as well and probably save some $$.

Thanks Trent
I have an Ambassador cornet which I like with the Wick mouthpieces but not with a Bach.
I had a 416 jupiter and hated it. I can't buy a Carol pocket in France.
I would like to know if the jupiter 516 is far better than the 416.

I just tried the new Jupiter 516 this afternoon : it's far better than the 416. Effect of the full sized bell... It plays in tune : good little horn IMHO.

In fact, I have almost the same question. I am living in Estonia, so Carol is to be excluded. Have you ever thought about Zeff (http://www.ventsdefolie.fr/Zeff/product.php?id_product=159)? As it is apparently a French company, why not try and contact them? I would also be rather interested to have somebody's impressions about the instrument.

Didn't play one myself, but as a member of a french forum where some people have tried or own Zeff horns, I'm told it's a good pocket trumpet.

I personally own a Jupiter 416 and really like it!

I sold my Ambassador trumpet and cornet and I bought a 516 jupiter pocket at Thomann in Germany.
Look nice, good valves and excellent compression. Nice case but huge for a small instrument.
I tried it several days and re-sent it to Thomann . I used the " 30 day money-back guarantee".
IMHO, the 516 is the same league than the 416. crappy sound (even with a cornet mouthpiece), bad low register, high G# hard to hit, ....
I am now looking for an american style cornet.

Hi!

Obviously you'll get a better sound with a cornet than with a pocket trumpet, unless you are ok to pay a lot of euros for the horn!

That said, did you try the Schagerl pocket trumpet? I've heard that it's a very good one, I can't say more since I didn't tried it, but anyway Schagerl would never sell under his brand name a bad instrument...

In France, their exclusive importer is Cuivres et Bois.

Just tried the big-bell 516 and to me it is much-much better that the 416 which I used to have.

Still not a brilliant instrument, good cornet is better in every way, but size of course. Below C is stuffy on this Jupiter but I found highs quite easy blowing.

And yes, the case is nice, but why is it soooo big?

I will consider getting this one.
